Ruyte is for everyone

We believe South Asian fashion should be accessible to every member of the South Asian diaspora, regardless of ability. This page describes our current accessibility features, known gaps, and how to reach us if something isn't working for you.

Our commitment

Ruyte Inc. is committed to making our website and mobile experience accessible to people with disabilities. We work to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as required under Canada's Accessible Canada Act (ACA) and Ontario's Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).

We also apply these standards to our Pakistan operations as a matter of principle, even where not legally required.

This is a living document. We update it as we make improvements or discover new issues. Last reviewed: June 2026.

Standards we aim for

We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across all Ruyte pages. This means we aim to meet all Level A and Level AA success criteria, including:

Sufficient colour contrast (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
All non-text content has text alternatives
All functionality is operable via keyboard
Forms have visible labels and error descriptions
Pages have meaningful titles and logical heading structure
Language of the page is identified in code
No content flashes more than 3 times per second

What we've built in

Semantic HTML structure

All pages use proper heading hierarchy (h1 → h2 → h3), landmark regions (nav, main, footer), and ARIA labels on interactive elements.

Keyboard navigation

Every interactive element — navigation, product cards, cart, checkout forms, filters — is reachable and operable using only a keyboard (Tab, Enter, Space, Arrow keys).

Screen reader support

We test with NVDA on Windows and VoiceOver on macOS and iOS. Product images include descriptive alt text. Cart and checkout status updates are announced via ARIA live regions.

Colour contrast

Our dark green (#1E4A2E) on white meets WCAG AA requirements. Price and status indicators use both colour and text labels so colour is never the sole means of conveying information.

Resizable text

The site layout is responsive to browser text-size settings. Increasing font size up to 200% does not cause content to overlap or disappear.

Focus indicators

Interactive elements show visible focus outlines for keyboard users. We do not remove the default browser focus ring without providing an equivalent replacement.

Urdu language support

The platform includes an Urdu (اردو) toggle on key pages for users who prefer to read in Urdu. The language attribute is correctly set to lang='ur' when active.

Reduced motion

Animations on the site respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query. Users who prefer reduced motion will see static or simplified transitions.

Form error handling

Form validation errors are displayed inline next to the relevant field and announced to screen readers via role='alert'. Required fields are marked with both an asterisk and an aria-required attribute.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, we are aware of the following areas that do not yet fully meet our target standard:

Product image carousels — the swipe interaction on mobile does not yet have a full keyboard-accessible alternative. A workaround: use the dot indicators below the carousel to navigate between images.
Video content — brand and influencer videos on the platform do not yet include captions or audio descriptions. We are working with our content partners to add these.
PDF documents — some receipts and order summaries generated as PDFs may not be fully accessible to screen readers. Text alternatives are available on-screen in your order detail page.
Complex data tables on the admin dashboard are not yet fully optimised for screen reader navigation.

We are actively working to address all of these. If one of these limitations is blocking you from completing a task, please contact us and we will assist you directly.

Third-party content

Ruyte embeds Safepay secure card and 3-D Secure authentication fields and uses Cloudinary for images. These services maintain their own accessibility standards. We choose partners with established accessibility practices, but cannot guarantee their conformance.

If a third-party element is blocking your experience, please contact us and we will find an alternative way to complete your transaction.

If you experience an accessibility barrier on Ruyte that prevents you from completing a purchase, accessing your account, or using any feature, we want to know immediately.

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 2 business days and to resolve or provide a workaround within 10 business days.
